Meditation for Spiritual Causes of Illness
You are a spiritual being experiencing a physical presence. Meditation can help you enjoy a healthier state
spiritually, which allows a healthier emotional and physical state.*
Your beliefs create your reality. The Bible says, "As you believe, so shall you have." If you believe
you are unworthy, guilty, incapable, those beliefs create a pattern which can eventually be reproduced in your
body.
Taking time to relax and center yourself, to know that God loves you just as you are, is essential for your well
being. The best medical care in the world cannot overcome a mindset which is focused on weaknesses. Meditation
is a way to improve your spiritual attitude.
Do you think you lack the discipline for meditation? Meditation can be as undisciplined as daydreaming. In fact,
daydreaming is a form of meditation!
There are many ways to meditate. Some are more structured and disciplined. Others are less structured, and can
be as simple as sitting quietly and breathing slowly and evenly, allowing your thoughts to become still.
Do you think you don't have time for meditation? Meditation can be as simple as taking a few moments to slow down,
go within and reconnect with your spiritual source.
Find a form of meditation which works for you and is comfortable for your beliefs and lifestyle. You may find meditative
music helpful, or the gentle sounds of water. You might enjoy active meditations such as walking, or canoeing on
a quiet lake.
Would you like to learn more about meditation? Check to see if there are local classes or groups in your area.
Public libraries, community colleges and health food stores are good places to look for more information. There
are books, teaching tapes, meditation music and a great wealth of information available online.
Change begins with making a decision. Decide now to make meditation an important part of your life. Then simply
allow it to happen. Relax and allow yourself time to just be. Remember, you are a human being, not a human doing!
*Spiritual counseling and meditation are not replacements for proper medical care. If you have a condition which
requires medical attention, please seek appropriate medical treatment.
