Emma Watson as Hermione poster picture pic Harry Potter and the Prisoner of AzkabanHermione Granger, played by Emma Watson in the Harry Potter movies, is one of the best students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She has some of the top-most grades in the entire school, and has been called The Brightest Witch of Her Age. She is often found with her two best friends, Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley. Hermione's bookish nature often earns snide remarks from her schoolmates, even Harry and Ron on occasion, but she usually tries to ignore them. When Harry and Ron start uncovering plots or get ideas in their heads, it's usually Hermione who either tries to talk them out of it or research the best method.

Other than being a bookworm, Hermione gets a lot of grief from certain students for her particular lineage. Her parents aren't magical at all; Hermione Granger was simply born with magic (which is rare, but it happens). Some very rude people from families that can trace "pureblood" magical heritage back many generations call such people "mudbloods", which is a very rude term that they shouldn't use. Hermione once punched another student, Draco Malfoy, who has been known to use the word.

Hermione Granger almost always speaks her mind and doesn't often hold back. This, too, gets her some negative reputation. Hermione's best saving grace is that anyone who spends the time to get to know her and is nice to her will find that she is a faithful ally and diligent protector in her own way. This is best seen in Hermione's friendships with Harry and Ron, both of whom she has defended, despite the consequences.
