What is meditation?

Meditation is a state of focused relaxation. There are countless ways of going about it, some very precise, strict and disciplined, others more casual. Physical relaxation, proper breathing and mental focus are important components regardless of the method used.

Why meditate?

Meditation can be used to relieve stress, restore inner peace, promote a healthier state* and much more. It can be used to restore the flow of energy throughout your being by releasing the conditions which created the blockage and hold it in place. Bonus: you gain the use of the blocked energy PLUS the energy that was being used to hold the old condition in place!

What is guided meditation?

Besides the obvious - meditation with a guide - it can be:

  • a friend reading a prepared script from a book (or write your own!)
  • a cassette you've prerecorded
  • a commercially prepared cassette or CD (link)
  • a professional guide leading an individual or group

What are the benefits of guided mediation?

A guide can teach you the basics of meditation, help you stay focused and meditate more deeply. Some guides can intuitively help you find the source of and/or the resolution to a challenge. A guided group meditation usually has a particular goal such as spiritual growth, relaxation, or enhancing physical healing. A guided group meditation is usually less exspensive than a private session.

Who does the healing?

Although guided meditation may be used for healing* the guide does not heal you. The resotred flow of energy allows your naturally healthy state to reestablish itself.

Where can I get more information on meditation and guided meditation?

You can become a Buddhist monk, study Zen or yoga, ask your friends, or check your local library and health food stores for local resources. You can buy a meditation cassette or CD at a local or online bookstore. Search the Internet for valuable resources. Keep looking until you find a way that works for you.

About my sessions

The sessions I conduct do not rely on any particular belief system, religion or dogma - all are welcome to participate.

Sessions, whether individual or group, consist of 10 minutes of discussion, 20 minutes of guided meditation, 10 minutes of resting in the silence, and 10 more minutes of discussion.

I am an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church (1990), a Neurolinguistic Programming practitioner (The Neuro-Linguistic Programming Center of New Orleans, 1990), and have a Bachelor of Clinical Hypnotherapy Degree from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy (1992). I do my meditations on the basis of spiritual healing. (See related article at

Note: due to my currently hectic schedule, I am not currently conducting guided meditation sessions.
