This popular trio creates a very special blend of warm, lighthearted entertainment as they combine their award winning instrumental and vocal skills with a friendly "folks next door" manner. The love and affection which they show for each other, their music, and their audience is an important part of the experience of a Simple Gifts concert. Ray's strong, sensitive style and mastery of the hammered dulcimer have brought him four state championships in Florida, as well as acclaim and recognition throughout the South. He also plays strong back-up guitar and comes from a family of traditional musicians. Cheryl's sparkling wit, and rich, award winning vocal style combine to delight and captivate audiences. She is a past autoharp champion in Florida and the primary showcase of her instrumental talents is a sprightly, traditional traditional style lead and back-up. The Belangers take their championship harmonies all over Florida and include the dynamic addition of Pete Scalzo on upright bass and Kin Hum on fiddle, banjo, & hammered dulcimer. Their shows emphasize traditional folk music with a mix contemporary folk and original tunes.
